Appointments
Each
resident has an appointment as a house officer at University Medical
Cente.
Annual Salaries
As of July 1, 2010, the salaries for surgical residents are

| PGY-2 | $59,410 |
| PGY-3 | $62,822 |
| PGY-4 | $66,236 |
| PGY-5 | $69,645 |
| PGY-6 | $73,053 |
NB: The above figures include a cost of living allowance of $2,500; in addition, these stipends are subject to annual increases, pending United University Professions (UUP) agreements.
Vacation Policy
Approximately four weeks of vacation time are allowed each year. Specific times are at the discretion of the Chief Resident and Program Director.
Insurance
Health and life insurance benefits are available. Malpractice insurance is included in the Urology Residency Program.
Meetings
PGY3 resident attends the basic science urology conference and as chief, an AUA Board Review at departmental expense. In addition, a resident presenting a paper at a national urologic meeting, will have all expenses paid for.
Meals
Meal privileges are provided for those residents on call at University Medical Center and the Northport VA Medical Center.
Housing
Residents are responsible for obtaining their own housing with assistance given by the Department. Urology residents are given an on-call room at all hospitals.
On-Call Schedule
The on-call schedule varies slightly between the two hospitals, but, in general, each resident should expect to be on call every third night. Each resident has at least one in seven days completely free.
