Dr. Wayne C Waltzer, was a member of the original team that performed the first kidney transplant on Long Island 25 years ago. Dr. Waltzer received the Village Times Herald 2007 "Man of the Year in Medicine" award. He was recognized for his "dedication to lifesaving surgery at Stony Brook and his commitment to the medical community and to family."
