Wei Zhao
Dr. Wei Zhao is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is also on the program faculty of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She received her BEng degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University in 1989, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She received her M.Sc. degree in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto in 1993, and Ph.D. degree from the same department in 1997. Dr. Wei Zhao's research work in the past has focused on the investigation of amorphous selenium flat-panel detectors for radiography and fluoroscopy. She has also worked on the development of cesium iodide based flat-panel detectors for medical imaging. Her current research interest focuses on the investigation of imaging performance and design optimization for amorphous selenium flat-panel detectors for digital mammography and digital tomosynthesis. Her research work also involves developing advanced detector concepts for improved imaging performance at low dose and high frame rates. Dr. Wei Zhao's research laboratory, the Digital Radiological Imaging Laboratory (DRIL), is located on Level 1 (Suite 109) of the Health Sciences Center of SUNY at Stony Brook.
