| Dr. Ferretti is a Professor of Clinical Radiology in the Division of Angiography and Interventional Radiology and Acting Chairman of the Department of Radiology. Dr. Ferretti also has a joint appointment with the Department of Surgery. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Downstate. A product of local training he completed his final two years of Radiology residency here at University Hospital, SUNY at Stony Brook. Dr. Ferretti completed a year of fellowship training in Angiography and Interventional Radiology at the University of Illinois/Cook County Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He then returned to the University Hospital, Stony Brook in July of 1988 as Assistant Professor of Radiology and a member of the Angiography and Interventional Section. He served as Section Chief of Angiography and Interventional Radiology since January 1, 1990 until January 1, 2008, and his efforts are largely responsible for the reputation and status the section possesses in the hospital today. Dr. Ferretti has his subspecialty Boards and gained the Certificate of Added Qualification in Angiography and Interventional Radiology presented by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Ferretti's clinical interests lie in the rewarding area of fallopian tube recanalization and uterine artery fibroid embolization. His past research endeavors include radioactive coated stents placed in porcine coronary arteries. In teaching and education, Dr. Ferretti is Director of the Angiography and Interventional fellowship program which he began in 1995 which also has full ACGME accreditation. He also supervises the 4th year medical students elective in radiology. Dr. Ferretti is also Director of the Radiology Residency Program at Stony Brook. Dr. Ferretti has been an active member of the Long Island Radiologic Society since 1989, including past president from 1995-96. |
