Make A Gift
To ensure that the mission of the Stony Brook Graduate Program in Public Health is realized, the following donor opportunities are available to our alumni and friends. Ann Tempone Memorial Scholarship Fund Ann Tempone was very proud to be a student in the GPPH, and she supported the Program wholeheartedly. We, in turn, admired Ann so much for her exceptional professional commitment and love of learning and, most importantly, her heart. Now we wish to honor her by creating the "Ann Tempone Memorial Scholarship Fund," which will be awarded to MPH students who exemplify the qualities we so admired in Ann. Graduate Program in Public Health Student Scholarship Fund Even though we are a state university and tuition is low, we need to reduce the financial burden of education for many of our students. In addition to general scholarship assistance, we would like to develop scholarships in the following areas:
Public Service Fund This fund will help to support work to build healthy communities on Long Island. Teaching Excellence Fund This fund will be used to provide monetary awards to faculty members for teaching excellence; implement new technologies that improve classroom teaching; and improve student practicum and mentorship. Student Development Funds This fund will be used to provide students from low-income families with mentored research opportunities in their public health area of interest. Faculty Excellence Fund The Stony Brook Graduate Program in Public Health competes regionally, nationally, and internationally for excellent faculty. Yet, faculty members at Stony Brook are paid 20 to 30 percent below other major research universities, after adjusting for the high cost of living on Long Island. We need endowed chairs to build and maintain the excellent faculty that will make the Graduate Program in Public Health top-rated. These chairs are essential to build a program that will meet the public health needs of Long Island.
The priority areas for endowed chairs are:
