Inpatient Consultation and Liaison

The inpatient adult consultation-liaison psychiatry service provides psychiatric assessment and management suggestions for medical and surgical patients in Stony Brook Hospital. With considerable inpatient census of high risk and tertiary care medical and surgical patients, (e.g. trauma, burn, cardiac surgery, cancer) the need for assessment and management of common psychiatric problems is quite high. The Service is staffed by a board-certified (Steven Cole, MD) and a board-eligible psychiatrist (Christopher Burke, MD) and is involved in education of trainees from multiple disciplines, including psychiatry, neurology, family medicine, geriatric medicine, and medical students.
