Interview Process

At Stony Brook University Medical Center we take pride in the relationship between our housestaff and our faculty. This relationship begins on the interview day when applicants meet faculty and residents while learning about our program.

How to arrange an interview
After your application and transcript have been reviewed through ERAS you may receive an e-mail invitation to interview. When invited, please call  Elaine Cromwell at 631-444-2020 to schedule your interview.

When to interview

The interview season begins November 1, 2007 and ends January 15, 2008. In order to have a choice of interview dates, please contact us as soon as you receive an invitation to interview. Many of our interview dates fill quickly.

The Stony Brook experience begins the evening before your interview. We invite all candidates to a dinner with residents and faculty. This provides an opportunity for the candidates to interact with us in a relaxed environment, and to observe the close relationship between our faculty and residents.

Stony Brook provides one night hotel accommodations to interviewing candidates the night prior to the interview, as well as shuttle service from the hotel to the hospital the morning of the interview.

10:00 – Noon    Interviews with Chair, Program Director plus 2 additional    faculty members

Noon – 1:00      Lunch with Residents
