Recent Research/Publications

 

Dr. Fischel publishes on developmental language delays, emergent literacy skills, reading interventions, attention deficit disorders, early intervention, and the elimination disorders of childhood. Her research on interventions to enhance emergent literacy skills, especially for children from low-income families, has been conducted in partnership with Head Start. She is a member of the National Early Literacy Panel of the National Institute for Family Literacy; the Panel authored: National Early Literacy Panel. (2008). Dr. Dixon publishes in the field of psychoneuroimmunology, childhood developmental disorders, pediatric and adult obesity (cytokins and health risks), psychosocial resilience and immunity in vulnerable/under-represented medical populations.

Dr. Riley’s research focuses on identification of predictive symptomatology and family/educational needs for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorders.

Dr. Scherzer serves as the Editor of Pediatric Habilitation Series (NY: Taylor and Francis). He has studied and interest in implications of developmental issues worldwide, especially for children in developing countries. He has longstanding involvement with the development and training program for pediatricians at Angkor Hospital for children in Siem Reap, Cambodia. He has served nationally as President of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, and locally as Medical Consultant in the Division of Special Education for Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Services.
