Dr. GLENDA TRUJILLO SELECTED FOR FACULTY DIVERSITY PROGRAM GRANT

December 2012: Dr. Glenda Trujillo has been selected to receive a highly competitive Faculty Diversity Program grant for Stony Brook University in support of her appointment as Assistant Professor of Pathology. “The Faculty Diversity Program enables SUNY to assist campuses in recruiting stellar faculty from different backgrounds who will contribute to advancing diversity and academic excellence. The recipients of these awards are outstanding scholars who have attained a record of distinction early in their academic careers and demonstrated promise for continued productivity of the highest quality.”

Dr. Trujillo received her PhD from the Molecular and Cellular Biology program at Stony Brook University under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Kew in the Department of Pathology.  After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at The University of Michigan, Dr. Trujillo returned to Stony Brook as a research scientist and joined his laboratory to assist in the development of murine models of acute lung injury. Her research investigates the regulatory mechanisms by which cytokines and chemokines regulate the fibroblast and epithelial cell response to acute exacerbations of the fatal lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Drs. Trujillo and Kew currently have several fruitful collaborative projects that combine both of their research interests and expertise.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Glenda Trujillo.
