Dr. Singh is the Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs at the School of Medicine at Stony Brook University.

Clinical Practice: 
 

Dr. Singh is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology (1997) and holds a post graduation degree in Pathology (1984 India). She is a general surgical pathologist and cytopathologist with subspecialty expertise in breast and gynecologic pathology and is a member of the multidisciplinary teams for breast and gynecologic cancers. She has a special interest in early neoplastic/ premalignant lesions. She has an active leadership role in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in Anatomic Pathology.
 
Research Summary:

Dr. Singh’s research focus is the application of novel and established biomarkers for breast and gynecologic cancers and preneoplastic lesions. She has developed rat models for prevention of mammary cancers and early neoplastic mammary lesions. She uses her skills in biomarker research to help elucidate unanswered clinical questions in breast and gynecologic cancers and is a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group. She is also working on research related to system based practice improvements.

Teaching:
Dr. Singh is active in medical student, resident and fellow education.  She is the founding ACGME accredited Surgical Pathology Fellowship Program Director (2011) .  She is the Co-Director of the Pathology Course for first year medical students and represents the department on the Systems Course Committee for the medical school. She has developed courses for gross, breast and gynecologic pathology and in laboratory management with a focus on quality assurance.  Her online atlases are offered as educational tools and have been accessed both by students and teachers across the globe. She has established and conducted CME conferences for peer education.  Dr. Singh is working on an educational initiative on quality improvement and patient safety across the medical continuum.
