Biobank

Established in 2004 in the Department of Pathology by Stony Brook Medicine and the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, this facility banks biological specimens (tissue, serum, CSF, etc) both normal and abnormal or malignant to support specimen-based research at Stony Brook University. Our team works closely with individual PIs as well as surgeons to obtain biological specimens under informed patient consent. Banking biomedical specimens is done in a state-of-the-art, dedicated, laboratory using cryogenic storage and vitrification to ensure complete molecular and morphological integrity.
