Message from the Interim Chair: On behalf of the faculty and residents of the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University Medical Center, I would like to welcome you to our web site. Our residency is the keystone of our educational mission. The residency is strong and vibrant, and we are committed to teaching our residents excellent patient care in an academically rigorous environment. We see an amazing variety of patients. Stony Brook University Medical Center, as the only tertiary care hospital serving a population of 1.4 million, provides exceptionally strong clinical training. Resident learns from dynamic faculty who are supportive, available and excellent teachers. Residents can also take the advantage of growing research effort in the department to explore new and exciting opportunities in advancing medical knowledge. As part of Stony Brook University, residents have the resources not only of the department of medicine, but also those of the School of Medicine, the University, and our affiliates, Brookhaven National and Cold Spring Harbor Labs. Throughout this website you will find a wealth of information about our divisions and our academic programs. We encourage you to come and visit us; we will welcome you warmly. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Margaret M. Parker, MD, FCCM |
