Better Health, Better Living

For local health information that applies to you personally—tips you can use and updates on health technology, research, and programming available right in your own community—an excellent resource is SBUMC’s Better Health, Better Living. This recently revamped, 16-page, biannual newsletter spotlights some of the best ideas in medicine—from helpful hints for healthier living to the latest health care innovations benefitting the Stony Brook community. You also will find our calendar of health classes, conferences, special events, screenings, and support groups you can join.  Better Health, Better Living is mailed to many Suffolk County residents, as well as to SBUMC staff and physicians. Stony Brook Community Service Programs

Making the community better—that’s an important part of what Stony Brook University Medical Center is all about.  Our doctors, faculty, staff, and students volunteer their time and expertise through hundreds of programs, initiatives and special events. Not only does this benefit the specific groups targeted by the outreach programs—for example, individuals with ALS, teens at risk, underserved children and veterans— the quality of life for everyone in Suffolk County and across Long Island improves.

Cancer Program Annual Report

Stony Brook’s Cancer Program Annual Report is a valuable resource for acquainting yourself with some of the best ideas in oncology and how our cancer program incorporates them. This 44-page publication provides updates on each of Stony Brook’s cancer services, disease management teams, and departments. Also included are highlights of the year’s research breakthroughs, pioneering procedures, new treatment protocols, advances in technology and ongoing patient support and advocacy.  Special reports on selected disease sites also are provided, in addition to annual diagnostic statistics and contacts.
