Lauren Krupp, MD, to be honored with "Woman of Distinction" Award

Stony Brook University Medical Center will host the inaugural “Harvest Luncheon” to kick off a holiday “Season of Giving” on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown, NY. Bring your friends and enjoy a delectable lunch, silent auction, and many surprises all to benefit children with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and MS research at the National Pediatric MS Center at Stony Brook University Medical Center as well as the vital work of the University Hospital Auxiliary. A highlight of the luncheon will be the first “Woman of Distinction” award honoring Dr. Lauren Krupp, founder and director of the National Pediatric MS Center at Stony Brook. Dr. Krupp, an internationally recognized expert in MS, began to suspect MS in children as more and more cases were referred to her. In 2002 she started the first multidisciplinary center in the country dedicated solely to children and adolescents with MS. Today the Pediatric MS Center is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and treats children from all over the United States and from around the world. Dr. Krupp is being recognized for her distinguished career in MS as an innovative, caring and committed physician.
