Yefim R. Sheynkin, M.D.
Dr. Sheynkin is an Assistant Professor and Director of Male Infertility and Microsurgery Program at Stony Brook University Hospital. A summa cum laude graduate of Moscow Medical Academy, one of the oldest and well-known medical schools in Europe, Dr. Sheynkin worked as a resident in General Surgery and Urology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He continued his postgraduate training in the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and the Population Council, Center for Biomedical Research, located on the campus of Rockefeller University. He was trained by Dr.Marc Goldstein and Dr. Peter Schlegel, world-renowned authorities in male infertility. As a result Dr. Sheynkin obtained a unique experience in performing new and most efficient surgical procedures for the treatment of male factor infertility. His area of expertise include the whole spectrum of microsurgical reconstructive procedures (including microsurgical vasectomy reversals with Microdot technique, vasoepididymostomies), different open and percutaneous sperm retrieval techniques for assisted reproductive technologies (including Microsurgical Testicular Sperm Extraction, Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration, Percutaneous Testicular Fine Needle Sperm Aspiration, Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration), microsurgical varicocelectomy, microsurgical testicular biopsy, transurethral resection of ejaculatory ducts.
Dr.Sheynkin closely collaborates with the Reproductive Endocrinology Department at Stony Brook University Hospital, which enables him to provide complete and comprehensive care for infertile couples.
Dr. Sheynkin has special training in performing No-Scalpel Vasectomy.
Dr. Sheynkin authored and co-authored a chapter, 20 publications and a patent in different areas of urology. He has significant experience in clinical and basic science research in the field of male infertility. He presented his work at national meetings of the American Urological Association, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the International Congress of Andrology. Presently, he is involved in ongoing projects related to study of male infertility at Stony Brook University Hospital
Dr. Sheynkin is a member of the American Urological Association, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Society for Study of Male Reproduction, Society for Male Reproduction and Urology, American Medical Association, New York Section of American Urological Association, Medical Society of the State of New York and the Suffolk County Medical Society.
Dr. Sheynkin is also an Assistant Attending Urologist and Clinical Instructor at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center
