Cardiac Stress Test

Patient Instructions 

Your doctor needs you to have a stress test to evaluate the condition of your heart. You may be asked to run on a treadmill (exercise stress test), or have medication given to you by means of an IV line (intra-venous; into a vein)  (chemical stress test). Often special x-rays are then taken of your heart (nuclear imaging).
