ROTATIONS AT STONY BROOK CALL
Floor Teams No call. 7:00 am to 7:00 pm; either Saturday or Sunday off.
Cardiology

(CACU)

Interns: Night float – 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.; Saturday off.

Interns:  Day rotation: Long call every 3rd night 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m

Residents: Day rotations 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or 5:00 a.m.  - 7:00 p.m.,
alternate day; Call Night 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Saturday or Sunday off.

Hem/Onc &
Renal Team

Interns: Monday-Friday until 5pm; long call every 2nd night 5:00 p.m. –
7:00 p.m.

Residents:  Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., call 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. alternate days; Saturday or Sunday off.

CCU

PGY2  rotation: Night float 8:30 p.m.- 9:30 a.m.; Saturday off.
Day Rotation: Alternating short call 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. & long call 7:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.; alternate Saturday 24-hour call; Saturday or Sunday off.

ICU

Interns: No 24-hour call; Night float 1-2 weeks 8:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., Saturday off.  Days: 7:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m. (short call) or 8:30 p.m. (long call)

Residents: Night float-2 weeks 8:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.; Saturday or Sunday off.
Alternating short call 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and long call 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.;
Saturday or Sunday off.

Night Float

Interns:  No 24-hour call;  Sunday – Friday 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.; Friday or Saturday off.

Residents: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.; Friday or Saturday off.

NB: Evening and overnight hours are covered by a combination of short call, long call and night float. Two-thirds of your clinical time is spent at Stony Brook and one-third of your time is spent at VA Medical Center in Northport.

Ambulatory: For interns and PGY2, the “4+1 plan” consists of 4 weeks of inpatient service and 1 week solely dedicated to outpatient clinic duties (both continuity clinics and specialty clinics).
For current PGY3 residents there are two 2 week blocks which will be eliminated next year, when all 3 classes transition to  “4+1” scheme.
