Residency Programs (GME)
General Information:
Stony Brook University Medical Center has well over 500 residents and fellows with more than 800 clinical faculty to support their training. Stony Brook provides services in an extensive range of specialties and subspecialties found in the residency and fellowships information page. All residents and fellows have faculty appointments as clinical assistant instructors.
Graduate and Medical Education Committee:
The institutional oversight is carried out by the Graduate Medical Education Committee chaired by the Associate Dean of Medical Education as required by A.C.G.M.E. The committee meets monthly with representation of all major residencies and 10 residents who have equal voting power.

The committee's charge is:
- Policy and procedure for institutional oversight of all residency programs in the institution.
- Development of the institutional statement as
related to GME. - To conduct regular internal reviews.
- To update the institutional resident work agreements and monitoring of resident work hours.
- Oversee due process and grievances of House Staff.
