The Area

Stony Brook is located on Long Island’s north shore, overlooking Long Island Sound. The surrounding area is made up of quaint harbor towns, beaches, farmland and residential communities. All the cultural and culinary pleasures of New York City are easily accessible by car or rail. The area is ideal for water sports and boating. Fellows and faculty have full access to the cultural, recreational and athletic facilities at the University, as well as to the swimming, golf and tennis clubs at the VA.
