Reproductive Health
The reproductive health component of the program offers adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to obtain reproductive health care including family planning services, prevention and screening for sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and preventive care. Annual gynecological exams including PAP smears and breast examinations, with breast self-examination education will be offered for females. Testicular examinations with testicular self examination education will be available for males. Family planning services will also be offered. These services include an overview of current contraceptive technology available, and providing assistance in choosing the method best for each individual. Emergency Contraception is also be available.
All potential participants in the Sexuality & Reproductive Health Program are asked to download, complete and return the pre-admission questionnaire (in PDF format - you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader available without cost from Adobe to view the Application Form). The questions are designed to gather information regarding the participant's overall level of functioning, physical health, and sexual history, as well as to assess any socio-sexual difficulties that they may be experiencing. Participants will be called to schedule appointments once the completed questionnaires are received and thoroughly reviewed. If you have any questions regarding the enclosed questionnaire or the program, please feel free to contact Marlies Brandt, MSW, at (631) 632-3147.
