Support Group - Parent Training

The Cody Center now offers parent training.  Parent trainings follow a semi-structured format with a focus on teaching behavioral principles and effective methods of managing and changing behavior.  Parents learn to accurately identify and describe behavior, recognize the functions of particular behaviors, and develop and implement effective plans for changing or eliminating behaviors that are interfering with learning or family life. The groups are led by Debra Gerard, an autism specialist who is also a special education teacher with extensive experience in behavioral and educational intervention for children with autism and related disorders.

The Parent Training program is comprised of six sessions, meeting once a week for 90 minutes.  The fee for six sessions is $300.  For scheduling and additional information, or to get an application for the program, please call (631) 632-3755.
