Annual Walk-A-Thon to Benefit Sunrise Fund
Elementary Students and SBUMC Join to help kids with cancer
Proceeds Help Support Health Education and Scholarship Programs for Patients

STONY BROOK, NY, April 4, 2008 - Students at the W.S. Mount Elementary School will team up with faculty and staff from Stony Brook University Medical Center and the community to host the 6th Annual Walk-A-Thon to benefit the Sunrise Fund at SBUMC. The event is part of a "Children Helping Children" Campaign for the Sunrise Fund (www.sunrisefund.org), which supports the Pediatric Oncology program at SBUMC. Come give a voice to the children who are not heard.

| Students at W.S. Mount Elementary School, along with the help of the community and staff at Stony Brook University Medical Center, will once again host a walk-a-thon to benefit the Sunrise Fund at SBUMC. The Sunrise Fund supports the Pediatric Oncology program at SBUMC.

The walk begins at 9:00 a.m. at W.S. Mount Elementary School, on 50 Dean Lane in Stony Brook. The 1.5 mile walk treks through the nature preserve. All proceeds from the walk will benefit Sunrise Fund programs, including "Play Fit-Stay Fit" and the Daniel Brooks Educational Award, given each year to students treated for cancer at SBUMC to help with their higher education costs.
Additional parking will be available at the South P lot on Stony Brook University West Campus with shuttle bus transportation to the elementary school. In the event of rain, the walk will be held at the Smith Haven Mall. There will also be an after-walk party with raffles and entertainment.
Registration is $15 for individuals, $20 for a family, and free for those who complete a sponsor sheet. Registration takes place at 8:00 a.m. the day of the event. To obtain a sponsor sheet and additional information, please call (631) 444-2899.
Contributions to the Sunrise Fund may also be made payable by check. Contributions should be made out to the Sunrise Fund and sent to Stony Brook University Medical Center, c/o D. Giugliano/Sunrise Walk Committee, HSC T11, Room 020, Stony Brook, NY 11794-8111.
