INNOVATIONS & RESEARCH IN CANCER

The backbone of any academic medical center is its research program. Research fuels discovery, advances the practice of medicine, and offers new hope to patients. At Stony Brook University Medical Center, a research-based institution, our physicians are also scientists who actively pursue advancements in understanding cancer and treatment. In fact, a Stony Brook physician was responsible for the research that led to the development of the MRI and a Nobel Prize in Medicine.
Today, we are studying the molecular mechanisms of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer), the mechanisms behind tamoxifen-induced endometrial cancer, and much more. Learn about our basic cancer research efforts at our General Clinical Research Center site.
