Who We Are
Medical Director:
Mark J. Sedler, M.D., M.P.H.
is Professor of Psychiatry and Head of Adult Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stony Brook University. Dr. Sedler received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine and did a post-graduate fellowship at McLean Hospital, Harvard. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has added qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Program Director:
Darlene M. Jyringi, M.P.S.
is a Gerontologist who specializes in dementia care counseling. Ms.
Jyringi has a Master’s degree in Gerontology and completed additional
studies as a Geriatric Scholar, with a specialty in Alzheimer’s disease,
at Columbia University – New York Geriatric Education Center.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science is part of the School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. The Department provides training for psychiatric residents and fellows; conducts research in psychiatry, behavioral science, and the neurosciences; and operates clinical programs in conjunction with Stony Brook University Medical Center, Long Island's only academic medical center.
