Neurology and Stroke Care - Awards & Recognitions

Neurologic disease and disorders pose a significant health burden on the residents of Suffolk County. Hundreds of people who survive these diseases and disorders struggle to recover from their debilitating impact. Stony Brook University Medical Center is the regional leader in diagnosing and treating the full range of neurologic disorders including stroke, aneurysms, spine problems, birth defects, traumatic injuries, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy and tumors.

Awards

SBUMC received the Bronze Award from the American Stroke Association for the “Get with Guidelines” Stroke Program.

Accreditations/Certifications

SBUMC’s ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Comprehensive Care Center-the only one of its kind on Long Island-was certified by the ALS Association as its 34th Center of Excellence in the nation.
SBUMC’s Stroke Program received a renewal of our Advanced Certification.
