Stony Brook University Medical
Center is committed to providing cancer patients with state-of-the-art,
compassionate care. Our comprehensive program in cancer treatment and research includes:
Bone Marrow Transplants, Radiation Treatments, Breast Cancer, Gynecologic
Cancer (Ovarian, Cervical), Leukemia, Chemotherapy, Lung Cancer, Brain Tumors,
Gastrointestinal Cancer, Head and Neck Cancer, and Urologic Cancer (Kidney,
Bladder, Prostate).
Awards
| • | SBUMC received full three-year accreditation by
the American College of Surgeons
Commission on Cancer as a Teaching Hospital Level Accredited Cancer Program
for 2008 through 2011, and also earned the Commission on Cancer’s Outstanding
Achievement Award.  |
Accreditations/Certifications
| • | SBUMC’s Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center became
the first in New York State to receive a full three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), for being in compliance with all 27 standards and having no deficiencies.  |
| • | SBUMC’s Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Residency Program was one of only a few in the
U.S. to receive full accreditation from the American Radiology Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physical Education Programs (CAMPEP). |
